403 to 3 House says No to withdrawing US troops
Democrats like to claim this to be a victory, a message of support to the troops, but the real message they're hiding from the world is...
204 to 211 to not vote on it. 204 votes to not even bother. 204 voices saying NO we don't even want to vote on saying we support them. But once its 'forced' upon them then yea, they support the troops.
"Our troops have become the enemy. We need to change direction in Iraq," said Rep. John Murtha. Murtha, Pennsylvania Democrat, issued his call for a troop withdrawal at a news conference on Thursday.
"We want to make sure that we support our troops that are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. We will not retreat," Speaker Dennis Hastert, R- Ill., said as the GOP leadership decided to put the question to the House.
Even as the question is proposed by fellow democrat, democrats said it was a political stunt and voted against it in an attempt to drain it of significance. "A disgrace," declared House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. "The rankest of politics and the absence of any sense of shame," added Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, the No. 2 House Democrat
